Problem we are solving
On an average, around 12,000 farmers committing suicides every year In India. More than 20% of Indian farmers live below the poverty line. More than half of Indian farmers are in debt.
One of the main reason for farmer poverty is dependency on hybrid seeds leading to high cost of cultivation and low profitability.
Disadvantages of Hybrid seeds
-
Hybrid seeds are failing to perform in adversely changing climatic conditions and require purchase every year.
-
These seeds also consume more water and fertilizers increasing the cost of cultivation leaving farmer economically vulnerable.
-
Due to hybrids, our native seed are disappearing at faster rate.
